Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, Abu Dhabi: My Luxurious 3-Night Stay Experience

This wasn't a collaboration—I paid for this stay myself because I genuinely wanted to experience this property, and honestly? It exceeded every expectation.

From January 15-18, 2026, I spent three glorious nights at this beachfront resort, and I'm here to share everything you need to know if you're considering staying here.

Walking into my room for the first time, I was absolutely stunned. The floor-to-ceiling windows offered dual panoramic views—on one side, the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque gleaming in white marble glory, and on the other, the resort's pristine private beach with turquoise waters.

The personalized service, the intimate atmosphere, and the quality of offerings justify every dirham of the upgrade.

Dining at Mazaj: A Culinary Journey

While the hotel has eight dining venues (including Marco's Italian by Marco Pierre White, which I regrettably didn't get to try), I spent an unforgettable evening at Mazaj Bab Al Bahr, the hotel's Lebanese and Turkish restaurant.

The moment you enter Mazaj, you're transported to the vibrant streets of Beirut. The restaurant features authentic décor including an antique door over 350 years old at the entrance, intricate tilework, and lush greenery that creates an enchanting Mediterranean atmosphere.

The food? Absolutely spectacular. The mezze selection was generous and flavorful—think creamy hummus, smoky baba ganoush, perfectly charred grilled halloumi, and warm, fluffy pita bread. The main courses featured charcoal-grilled meats that were tender and aromatic with authentic Lebanese spices.

What I loved most was the restaurant's commitment to authenticity while maintaining the refined standards you'd expect from a Fairmont property. Every dish felt like it came straight from a family kitchen in Lebanon, yet with that elevated presentation and service excellence.

Exploring Abu Dhabi: Free Shuttle to Yas Island

Here's something many people don't know: Abu Dhabi Tourism provides a free shuttle service to Yas Island, and it stops right outside the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr!

This is perfect if you're planning to visit Yas Marina Circuit, Yas Mall, or the theme parks (Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World). The shuttle runs on a schedule, making it super convenient to explore without worrying about transportation.

The shuttle operates multiple trips throughout the day between Abu Dhabi city and Yas Island. Pro tip: Check the schedule at the concierge desk and plan your day accordingly. It's a fantastic way to save on transportation costs while exploring the entertainment hub of Abu Dhabi.

The Grand Mosque Experience

One of the absolute highlights of staying at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr is the proximity to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Being just 10 minutes away meant I could visit at different times of day to experience the mosque in various lights.

I visited during the late afternoon, which turned out to be the perfect timing—the golden hour light on the white marble is absolutely magical. The mosque is one of the most beautiful architectural masterpieces I've ever seen, and having it so close to the hotel made the experience even more special.

Practical tips for visiting:

• Women must wear an abaya (available for rent at the entrance if you don't have one)
• Photography is allowed, but be respectful of prayer times
• Visit during late afternoon for the best lighting
• Take a guided tour to learn about the mosque's incredible history and design details

What Else Makes This Hotel Special?
